In this 3 hr workshop with Sarah Bay, we’ll combine the releasing techniques of self massage with therapy balls together with a Yoga practice specifically sequenced to create greater ease when backbending. The focus will be to improve movement of your shoulders, neck and spine - and most importantly for you to feel comfortable in your own body.
Who is it for?
This workshop is for anyone who is experiencing tension, stiffness or restrictions in their neck, shoulders and front of hips. Maybe you sometimes feel discomfort when doing backbends in a Yoga class and tend to avoid it, or maybe you've been practicing backbends for a longer time and are looking for new ways to deepen your awareness of these poses. Experience with Yoga will be helpful but not required. The most important thing is to be curious to explore your movement patterns.
What can you expect?
Self massage with therapy balls to help release tension stored in your shoulders, neck, upper back and hips.
A Yoga practice that effectively targets this area in order to make you feel comfortable with backbending.
Identify the parts in your body which you are over-activating and under-activating so that you become aware of your blindspots and strengthen your body awareness.
Wind down at the end of practice, using therapy balls to release any last tension and move towards a complete restful state with a brief restorative Yoga Nidra practice
Leave with exercises that you can do on a daily basis to continue to gently deepen your journey with backbends.

About Sarah
Sarah began her Yoga practice in her early teens in 2001 when she was introduced to Yoga by her dear grandmother. Since then the practices of Yoga have been a key part of her toolbox to align body and mind when going through life's twists and turns. These practices are Sarah’s anchor, reminding her to show up every day with an open mind and explore the dance between effort and ease.
