KIRTAN: CHANTING of ANCIENT MANTRAS

Chanting is a meditation technique that helps us reconnect with the silence and the inner presence of peace, bringing us back to the source; the infinite state of our true Self.

Through the repetition of the divine names, we are able to still the mind and slowly uncover what is inside of ourselves, underneath our thoughts and emotions, and experience the field of pure being and awareness that is always present.

The more we practice and keep coming back to the mantra, the easier it gets to let go of our thoughts and allow the emotions to gently pass through and dissolve. We develop the ability to watch the thoughts as they come and go with less judging and without getting caught up in them.

At The Yoga Flat we host kirtans on a regular basis.

Chanting of ancient mantras

Immerse yourself in Sanskrit and Hindi prayers and the practice of Kirtan, a call-and-response chanting of ancient mantras.

Come and sing from the heart with Jakob who is leading the kirtan and playing the harmonium for an evening filled with mantra-meditation and music. Jakob will be sharing his personal practice with you and will be doing call-and-response chanting (kirtan), with the opportunity for your voice to co-create the moment, as well as some of his favourite invocations and prayers.

This event is open to all levels.

About Jakob Weise

Jakob’s entire life has revolved around music. Since before his teenage years he has been performing professionally. He has released several albums, toured intensively and topped the charts within the pop industry as both a producer and a songwriter and with his band The Loft.

Yoga and meditation have been an integral part of his life parallel to his music for more than a decade. Within recent time he has taken a powerful shift and is now fully focused on deepening his practice of chanting and meditation on his own journey of self-discovery.

Jakob is currently working on new recordings of some of his favourite chants and mantras which will be available later this year. Learn more
