Teacher Training
100-hour basics
With lead teacher Nicolai Boas with support from Jacqueline Glargaard Albers Thomasen
We are so happy to be able to offer a second foundational training in Copenhagen this Year. Starting in October 2021.
The training is based on the basic principles of teaching yoga and we will be working together over 5 weekends where we explore asanas, yoga philosophy, anatomy, teaching techniques and so much more.
The main physical practice will be a mix between, often referred to as vinyasa & Hatha, yet note that there will be inspirations from many traditional as well as untraditional places to give you the best all around idea of what a yoga practice can be.
Our daily schedule will be devided into workshops focusing on “Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology”, “Asana Dissection”, “Physical Practice”, ”Basic Philosophy and psychology of Yoga (Traditional and Tantric)”, “The Basics of Sequencing”, “The Subtle Body”, “Functional Pranayama” and much more.
You will get to practice once or twice a day and you can expect to get to teach in groups in the first module.
Modules and Practical stuff
The Training is divided in to 4 modules on extended weekends in October & November and you can expect homework in between the weekends. The foundational training furthermore acts as the first 100 hours of The Yoga Flats 200-hour training, yet can be done even if you do not wish to do the full 200 hours
The dates are:
Weekend 1
January 21st, 22nd & 23rd (all days 8-18)
Weekend 2
January 28th, 29th & 30th (all days 8-18)
Weekend 3
February 18th, 19th & 20th (all days 8-18)
Weekend 4
February 25th, 26th 27th (all days 8-18).
As you can see from above, all of the four weekends start on Fridays at 8 am. and there three days timewise will look more or less the same. Note that meals are to included, but the breaks a re long enough for you to go buy some food and snacks if needed.
All teaching materials will be included in the price of the training, and you will furthermore get suggestions for readings if you wish to dive even deeper in to the art of teaching.
What does it take?
To take part in this training you are expected:
to have been practicing yoga for a least one year on a regular basis
to have a hunger for deepening your understanding of yoga
to be willing to participate in the teaching, including teaching exercises where you will be asked to teach your fellow teacher trainees.
We believe vulnerability and wanting to share is key to becoming a great teacher, we encourage all to share their experiences in the training so we can all learn more and learn to hold space for each other. But you are of course always the one who decides what you wish to share and what you don’t.
To complete the training all hours are mandatory, and we advise you to keep the training weekends sacred and not make evening plans as your full attention and energy will be needed to not burn out.
If you wish to take your training further we do provide courses of 30-50 hours that makes you allegeable to register with Yoga Alliance as a RYT 200 after completion. These courses will run once-twice a year and we are already hoping to have courses available for those on this training shortly after the completion in spring.
About the Teachers
Nicolai
Lead Trainer
Nicolai is a technique junkie whose classes centre around body awareness, anatomy and mindful movement. His classes are build up around the wish for his student to empower themselves in their practice and in their life by employing concepts that highlight the power of an explorative practice and way of living.
His classes will often be relatively physically demanding, weather its advanced or gentle practice, yet his lyrical teaching style makes tough active body work accessible for most.
For Nicolai, through physical practice, we can get better and understanding ourselves as it becomes a tangible tool to better access our reaction patterns and our sense of self. We are able to make our complex experiences and problem areas more accessable simply by looking at the way we approach our physical practice, how we meet ourselves and how we respond to the nerve impulses.
