In this 3-hour introductory workshop you’ll learn about the practice of qigong as a tool to improve the intensity of your presence, direct your intention in movement more precisely, and increase your relaxed mobility.
Qigong covers a range of ancient Chinese health practices with roots dating back several thousand years, and the practice has been used for both self-healing, meditation, and improving skill in martial arts.
In the form taught at this workshop, qigong has two main focus points:
As a meditative practice, allowing increased presence through a balance between relaxed consciousness (xin) and focused intention (yi) as manifested in movement
As an advanced stretching practice, improving relaxed mobility and integration of the body by targeting specific elements of the fascial system
The workshop will introduce you to basic qigong-exercises, and acquaint you with the principles behind integrated movement necessary to include them in your own yoga practice. You’ll get to dive into the exerices, and get detailed and personalized instructions.
Questions about all aspects of the practice, the principles, anatomy and physiology behind them are very welcome, so bring your enthusiasm and curiosity with you!
Additionally, the instructor will give practical, hands-on demonstrations of how a combination of manual techniques and qigong as stretching can dissolve many common barriers to full mobility, and address many types of myofascial tension, restriction and pain. You are therefore also very welcome to bring any restrictions and challenges you encounter in your own practice to the workshop, where time will be specifically reserved for a practical Q&A.
