In this 2,5 hr workshop with Sarah Bay, we’ll combine the releasing techniques of self massage with therapy balls together with a Yoga practice specifically designed to create greater ease when backbending. The focus will be to improve movement and coordination of your shoulders, neck and spine - and most importantly for you to feel comfortable in your own body. 

Who is it for?

This workshop is for anyone who tends to feel tension, stiffness or restrictions in their neck, shoulders and front of hips, perhaps from working at a desk, bicycling or carrying their baby/toddler. Or maybe you sometimes feel discomfort when there’s an option for backbends in Yoga class and tend to avoid it for that reason. Experience with Yoga will be helpful but not required. The most important thing is to be curious about your movement patterns. 

What can you expect?

  • Self massage with therapy balls to help release tension stored in your shoulders, neck, hands, upper back and front thighs.

  • A Yoga practice that effectively targets this area in order to make our body feel safe with backbending. 

  • Identify the parts in your body which you are over-activating and under-activating so that you become aware of your blindspots and strengthen your body awareness.

  • Wind down at the end of practice, using therapy balls to release any last tension and move towards a complete restful state with a brief restorative Yoga Nidra practice

  • Leave with exercises that you can do on a daily basis to continue to  “un-round” your back even after the workshop.

About Sarah

Sarah began her Yoga practice in her early teens in 2001 when she was introduced to Yoga by her dear grandmother. Since then the practices of Yoga have been a key part of her toolbox to align body and mind when going through life's twists and turns. These practices are Sarah’s anchor, reminding her to show up every day with an open mind and explore the dance between effort and ease. Sarah’s teaching style is lighthearted and through mindful sequencing her classes are designed to cultivate body awareness and make space for a meditative state of the mind.
