Free your hips w. Sarah Bay

  • The Yoga Flat 14B Nørrebrogade København, 2200 Denmark (map)

In this 2,5 hr workshop with Sarah Bay, we’ll combine the releasing techniques of self massage with therapy balls with a mixed levels yoga practice. The yoga practice is designed to make you feel steady when balancing on one leg as well as create a space for you to explore yoga poses often referred to as “hip openers” in a way that feels good for your body. The general focus will be to improve awareness, mobility, and coordination of your hips, legs, ankles and feet - but as always we’ll tend to the whole body for a balanced practice. The most important thing will be for you to feel comfortable in your own body.

Who is it for?

This workshop is for anyone who experiences a sensation of tightness, tension, or restrictions in their hips, legs, ankles, and feet. This workshop is also excellent for yogis, runners, athletes, dancers, and anyone who wants their hips to be a source of stability, mobility, and JOY for years to come. Experience with Yoga will be helpful, but the most important thing is to be curious about exploring your movement patterns.

What can you expect?

  • Self massage with Yoga Tune Up therapy balls to help release tension stored in your lower body, including your glutes, outer hips, feets, calves, front thighs, hamstrings, and feet.

  • A Yoga practice that effectively targets the above mentioned areas in order to feel comfortable with balancing poses and poses known as “hip openers” - we’ll also explore the notion of hip opening in Yoga in greater detail.

  • Identify the parts in your body which you are over-activating and under-activating so that you become aware of your blinds spots and strengthen your body awareness

  • Leave with exercises that you can do on a daily basis to continue to improve mobility of your hips beyond this workshop

  • To finish we’ll wind down using therapy balls to release any last tension and move towards a complete restful state with restorative yoga poses followed by a long Shavasana.

About Sarah Bay

Sarah began her Yoga practice in her early teens in 2001 when she was introduced to Yoga by her dear grandmother. Since then the practices of Yoga have been a key part of her toolbox to align body and mind when going through life's twists and turns. These practices are Sarah’s anchor, reminding her to show up every day with an open mind and explore the dance between effort and ease. Sarah’s teaching style is lighthearted and through mindful sequencing her classes are designed to cultivate body awareness and make space for a meditative state of the mind.
