Asana Exploration - Bring Play Into Your Practice
In this 3 hr workshop we will use the chair and explore familiar yoga poses in a different way to get a deeper awareness of our movement patterns. Exploring variations of yoga poses with a chair is a wonderful way to wake up from habits (and perhaps release the ones that don’t serve us) and to meet your body in a playful way. For this workshop we will pay extra attention to our side bodies and the work of both lengthening and strengthening. The different spin on yoga poses give our nervous system a novel experience and to help our brain learn new skills and get more adaptable - in our minds as well as in how we move.
Who is it for?
This workshop is for anyone who’s curious to deepen their understanding of the actions we play with in yoga poses. As the chair offers support for you to spend longer time in the poses you can become more aware of the quality of your breath and habits - both in poses we might consider easy as well as the more demanding ones.
What can you expect?
Skilfully evolve your practice and play with poses that are challenging in an approachable way - no matter where you are in your yoga journey.
Identify the parts in your body which you are over-activating and under-activating so that you become aware of your blindspots and strengthen your body awareness.
Notice your habits of breath and to keep it supportive even through challenging movements.
Self-massage with therapy balls at the end of practice to release any tension and move towards a complete restful state in a long Savasana.
